Starting a career in public speaking

The speech...

So you want to start a career as public speaker ? Fine, go on ! Look on the web what kind of resources you will find to help you in the following important areas:

  • Writing speeches
  • Body language
  • Catching audience attention
  • Presentation techniques
  • How to deliver a speech

However if you're a natural born speaker, you won't need them and it will come to you naturally (this is apparently for this hub's requester).

So after that you will now how to write and how to behave on stage and look brilliant. What's next ?

The message !

Yes, the message ! There is no good speech without a message, and someone passionated about it, and wanting to spread the word.

This is from my point of view the key topic in this area, and the same thing applies to writing hubs and blogs. The better technique without any interest or passion about the subject will simply lead to medium communication.

It is true that bad communication skills can ruin your message, but excellent communication will not "generate" a message.

If you envisage to start in this area, ask yourself what you want to talk about. Except if you want to do some "porte-parole" jobs, where the messenger has to be invisible to give all attention to his boss.
