How EcoDrive technique can cut your fuel costs by up to 10% ?

EcoDrive principles
Do you want to save up to 10% on your fuel cost, without changing your moving habits, nor modifying your car ? Then get used to EcoDriving.
The rules are fairly simple, and I checked it. With my personal car (Seat Altea TDI), I save up to 10%. I really drove the same daily activity for one month doing EcoDrive, and for another month driving normally, and results are in the 10% range.
So what are the rules ?
1) Shift as soon as possible. Most engines are more efficient in the 2000 - 2500 RPM range. When starting and accelerating, shift rapidly and quickly.
2) Maintain a steady speed. Accelerating consumes a lot of fuel. When driving on the motorway, use the highest gear, and aim for the 2000 - 2500 RPM area.
3) Anticipate traffic flow. To avoid deceleration and re-acceleration, try to anticipate more. Don't accelerate if traffic in front tends to decelerate.
4) Decelerate smoothly. Instead of switching from accelerator to brake, simply release the accelerator early, and leave the car decellerate in gear. Moreover, you'll save on the brakes.
5) Check your tire pressure regularly. A low tire pressure increase friction and fuel consumption.

Additional tips
Don't use too much of air-conditionning, this is a terrible fuel burner. Set your A/C for a temperature 3 to 5 degrees below outside temperature. You'll get a sensation of freshness, but won't use too much extra fuel.
Switch to manual gearbox. Applying the EcoDrive principles I detailled above is much easier with a manual gearbox.
Check you battery regularly. A faulty battery can continue to work if used regularly, but it will generate a huge load on the alternator, which will in turn lead to more fuel consumption.

I can't attest to these tips because I haven't recorded my mileage before and after, however, I did see these tips in a recent email -
Fuel up in the morning when it's cooler. As it warms up the molecules become more active and less dense so you actually get less gas for your money at the pump.
Pump gas in slowly so you will lose less in fumes.
Fill up when your tank is half empty instead of empty. The more room in your tank the more space the molecules have to fill. They expand into less dense matter (fumes) and escape.
Hey, every little bit helps. Thanks for the great tips on Eco Driving too.
